I was always intrigued by the cleanliness of my Muslim friends at school. I noticed that they were the only ones in my soccer team who would sweat but never ever smell nasty, while on the other hand, all my friends had profound smell although they were clean too. After a lot of hesitation, I asked one my Muslim friend to which at first we laughed about it but then he explained me about the concept of wozo which means ablution and how that was important before each prayers. He once demonstrated the process of wozo in our locker room and showed me how each part such as arms and feet were to be washed 3 times and he said we have to do that 5 times day before each prayer. He then also went explaining why he never urinates standing at the urinals in the boys locker room, instead he chooses the bathroom to urinate and also explained me that it was the part of his religion to ensure that no splashes should come on his clothes and he had to wash himself before getting out. I found it funny that Muslims do not use toilet paper to clean themselves after pooping, instead they chose to wash themselves and then wash their hands with soap after coming out.
We laughed most of the time during that conversation but that got me thinking a lot on the overall concept that, that was the part of their religion. I am happy to have my Muslim friends, but those are the only ones who are not too loud about it.
