So…what is Modern Muslims? Is it a cause? A solution? An idea, maybe? A way to make money? Philanthropy? Or just an outlet for a family with 2 brothers to cope with (definitely not).

I’ll tell you what it is. It is an INTENTION.

It is an intention to spread core values. It is an intention to impact, impact one little kid in the corner of the world at the very least. It is an intention to purely share. It is an intention to STRIKE A BALANCE!

I come from a very common yet rare to find family, I say. A religious, loving, hardworking, always laughing, enjoying, bonding, and religious again atmosphere. Success is what I yearn for, what I prolong, and I know I’ll have it, I say I have it at this very moment (as I type this in my notes app right after a very deep and bonding yet extremely common conversation with my parents). And I know how I’ve got this success and how I will achieve what I want, it’s simple really- D’uaa (prayer), hardwork and consistency. What my definition of success is a post for another time, right now I wanna focus on what I call the answer to the question What is Islam? – A religion of intentions.

Now of course shahadah (the belief in one god, Allah and the belief in Mohammed p.b.u as the last prophet sent by god), is what makes you a Muslim. And the practice of the 5 pillars of Islam is what makes you a religious and true follower. But the main foundation, to me personally as I’ve interpreted, to all this is Niýah (intentions).

It is all about your intentions. For example, if there’s a person who doesn’t know how to pray  properly, they don’t know the Quran well enough to perform prayer yet they still pray with simply their heart; that is a prayer accepted as it was their intention to pray. They prayed even when they didn’t know simply for Allah and to seek refuge. Another example, if someone doesn’t mind to differ their eating habits by haram and halal, and simply eat anything but say that “Allah knows my intentions” is very much in the wrong. It is very clearly mentioned in the Quran about haram and halal, and even after knowing that you pursue a business that links to haram products or activities, again that is wrong. It is only ever gonna be yourself and Allah who know your true intentions, you can’t cheat yourself or fool your lord; this brings me to another personal belief of mine- that religion is an extremely personal activity , only between you and god. That is why we at Modern Muslims are not trying to change that, neither are we trying to spread and preach Islam. Hundreds of prophets before us have already done that and millions of more pure hearted and good humans have fought for it. We are simply trying to impact that one little kid and strike a balance.

That is why I stress again when I say this, Modern Muslims is an intention.

Everything comes back to your intentions, whether you truly meant it or not.

WE MEAN IT!
